Will your child pass their IGCSE Maths exam?

Not content tutorials. Every workshop is a paper-mapped session led by a facilitator who knows what Cambridge CAIE examiners reward, followed by community support 7 days a week. Cambridge CAIE uses an A*–G grading scale, distinct from the 9–1 scale used by some other international boards.

Why Workshops, Not Tutorials

Your school teaches
the content.
We teach the exam.

Mark-scheme literacy

Cambridge CAIE marks are awarded against a published scheme — not just a correct final answer. We teach students exactly where marks come from.

Tier-aware technique

The same command word means something different depending on which tier your child is sitting. We teach to the tier your child is actually entered for.

Peer comparison

Seeing how a peer approached a question they found hard reveals gaps no amount of solo revision shows you.

Small cohorts, always

Capped at 15 students. Never a lecture hall, never a recording on a loop.

Grade Boundaries

Know exactly what
each grade requires.

Boundaries vary by series — always verify current thresholds at the official board site before relying on these for a live decision.

Extended Tier (grades A*–G) — Variant BX, Papers 2+4

Out of 200 (Papers 2+4). Cambridge publishes several variants (BX/BY/BZ) per series depending on exam window — figures above are Variant BX. Always confirm your specific variant.

Core Tier (grades C–G) — Variant AX, Papers 1+3

Out of 160 (Papers 1+3). Core tier has no access to grades A*, A, or B. Source: Cambridge International official grade threshold documents.

Command Word Mastery

The same word.
Different demand, by tier.

Cambridge CAIE command words carry the same name across tiers — but what counts as a complete answer scales with the tier. Misreading this costs marks a student had already earned the knowledge for.

Command WordLower Tier ExpectsUpper Tier Expects
CalculateWork out a numeric answer using a given method — a calculator answer with no working may still score if it matches.Same expectation, but Extended-tier calculations often chain multiple steps, including algebraic manipulation before the final substitution.
Show thatDemonstrate the given result using a method an examiner can follow line by line — usually a direct substitution check.Same demand, but Extended-tier "show that" questions often require algebraic proof rather than a numeric check.
Write downA direct answer with no working required.Same — but Extended questions sometimes embed a "write down" inside a longer structured question.
FindObtain the answer by any correct method, showing relevant working.Same, but Extended-tier "find" questions more often involve algebraic fractions, surds, or trigonometric identities.
Frequently Asked

Cambridge CAIE IGCSE Maths — Common Questions

What's the difference between Core and Extended tier?
Core tier (Papers 1 and 3) is capped at grade C and uses simpler content. Extended tier (Papers 2 and 4) accesses the full A* to G range but includes harder content. Your school decides which tier you're entered for.
Why does Cambridge have multiple 'variants' per series?
Cambridge offers the same exam across different administrative windows (variants, labelled BX, BY, BZ for Extended) so schools in different regions and time zones can sit the exam at a suitable time. Boundaries can differ slightly between variants in the same series.
When is the next Cambridge IGCSE Maths exam?
Cambridge runs IGCSE series in June and November/January each year. Always confirm your specific series and variant with your school.
Do you teach both tiers?
Yes — our facilitators work with both Core and Extended tier students, tailoring workshop content to the tier each student is actually sitting.
Is this instead of school lessons?
No — workshops reinforce exam technique and mark-scheme understanding alongside what your school teaches, scheduled around school timetables, not instead of them.
